Quick takes on the CDA School’s levy

  • August 31, 2022
  • William

In the past 10 years, CDA School District #271 has run exactly 10 levies. With the exception of yesterday’s election, all 9 have easily passed.

Here are some quick takes from yesterday’s election:

  • Same day rules the day. Conservatives don’t do absentees or early voting much. Initial results were showing IN FAVOR numbers totally eclipsing AGAINST. Once same day votes were being counted, AGAINST steadily overtook IN FAVOR. I always thought it was a myth that conservative voters hid their strength by doing same day voting… this is no longer a myth to me.
  • Monstrous turnout. Yesterday was a record voter turnout since 2011 for a CDA Schools Levy with 10,704 total ballots casted… despite Labor Day weekend being just around corner. CDA Schools normally runs their levies in March (see table below).
  • November Election? In the past 10 years, CDA Schools hasn’t had the need to re-run a levy. We’ll if they’re willing to put this to voters again in November.

This table presents the 10-year historical turnout for CDA Schools Supplemental Levy and Levy Renewal elections. It was compiled using data from the Kootenai Elections Office website.
